Madagascar – South Korea : Enhancing Bilateral Collaboration

Collaborating on road infrastructure development

The partnership between South Korea and Madagascar continues to flourish. During an official visit with the Minister of Public Works (MTP), Richard Rafidison, South Korea’s Ambassador to Madagascar, Park Ji-Hyun, expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration.

The two representatives discussed key projects within the ministry and potential avenues for collaboration with South Korea. High on the agenda was the restoration of Madagascar’s critical road network, a priority for the Ministry of Public Works.

Some of the main national roads (RN) discussed include RN2, which connects Antananarivo to Toamasina; RN4, linking Antananarivo to Mahajanga; RN6 from Ambondromamy to Antsiranana; and RN7, which runs from Antananarivo to Toliara.

The MTP has additional priority projects, such as the « Route of the Sun », which spans Madagascar’s eastern coastline from Taolagnaro to Antalaha, and a proposed highway between Antananarivo and Toamasina. Several other development projects were also discussed during the meeting. The Korean diplomat expressed his interest in collaborating on these projects to advance Madagascar’s road infrastructure.
