EU – Mauritius: Collaboration in full swing

Towards a strengthened partnership

The importance of technical and financial support from the European Union (EU) was highlighted during a courtesy visit by the EU Chargé d’Affaires to the Republic of Mauritius and Seychelles, Marios Vitos, to the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Protection, Arianne Navarre-Marie.

The meeting took place on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Port Louis. Accompanied by Madev Balloo, Project Manager, and Winfred Lichuma, Gender Expert from GOPA Consulting, Vitos discussed with the Minister ongoing projects and new avenues of collaboration to be developed.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the EU’s continued support. Navarre-Marie emphasized that this support plays a key role in the implementation of the Ministry’s programs. In particular, through the development of an action plan and the evaluation of past and future projects.

For his part, the Chargé d’Affaires welcomed this initial meeting with the Minister, highlighting the long-standing relationship between the two parties. According to him, the meeting allowed them to reaffirm the solid foundations of this cooperation and identify priority areas for the future.

This meeting is part of a shared desire to strengthen gender equality and social protection, building on lasting collaboration between committed partners.
