Emmanuel Macron on tour in the Indian Ocean

A delegation of French companies to strengthen economic ties

Emmanuel Macron will begin a tour of the Indian Ocean on April 19, 2025, with visits to Réunion, Mayotte, Madagascar, and Mauritius.

The President will be accompanied by a delegation of around twenty French companies, selected by Medef International. The aim is to strengthen economic ties between France and these territories.

Among the major companies participating is CMA CGM, a leader in maritime transport that has operated in Madagascar for over thirty years. The Meridiam fund, which holds a significant stake in Ravinala Airports, which manages the Ivato and Nosy Be airports, will also be present. Suez, headed by Thierry Déau, will be among the major companies in this delegation.

The infrastructure sector will be well represented by Poma, which built the Antananarivo cable car, and Sogea-Satom, a Vinci subsidiary involved in several infrastructure projects. Xavier Niel, already involved in Madagascar with École 42, may also participate in this tour. Other companies such as Orange, IN Groupe, Egis, Artelia, and Thomson Broadcast will also be present.

After Madagascar, the delegation will travel to Mauritius on April 25th for an economic forum. The trip will begin in Réunion Island from April 19th to 22nd and will also visit Mayotte. Macron will be accompanied by several members of the government, including Rachida Dati, Manuel Valls, and Thani Mohamed-Soilihi.
