Comoros for a new impetus for the IOC

Preparation for the 39th Council of Ministers

A few days before the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) summit scheduled for April 24 in Antananarivo, representatives of the Member States met in Mauritius from April 4 to 6, 2025.

This meeting of the Standing Liaison Officers (PLO) Committee was part of the preparations for the 39th IOC Council of Ministers, scheduled for April 15 and 16 in Seychelles.

During this meeting, the Republic of Seychelles handed over the chairmanship of the PLO Committee to the Union of the Comoros. Ambassador Fatima Alfeine, the new Chair, called for regional solidarity and the defense of the fundamental principles of the IOC. The Ambassador also recalled the importance of the Victoria Agreement, the legal foundation of the IOC since 1984, and emphasized that the Comoros, with its four islands, is fully committed to this regional cooperation.

This meeting marks a key moment in the preparation for the IOC Summit, which is expected to define new priorities to strengthen cooperation between Member States in the face of common challenges.
