Market open until January 25
The Market of the Islands is organized in Moroni Oasis by the Comorian Association of Local Producers and Processors (Acptl). There are over 150 local brands on display.
Since December 23, the Acptl has inaugurated the “Market of the Islands” event in the Oasis neighborhood of Moroni. This market will be open until January 25. This event aims to showcase the diversity of Comorian products and the expertise of artisans, farmers, and processors in the archipelago. Over 150 brands are featured, covering areas ranging from cosmetics to food, as well as fashion and crafts. About 50 companies contribute to the event with products entirely made in the Comoros, offered at affordable prices.
During their visit last Saturday, organizers observed a lower attendance compared to the previous edition. All items on display are of local origin, including products such as essential oils, honey, jams, jewelry, chili, soap, and other handmade objects.
Kamlati Djabir, head of Como Délices, also noted a reduced number of customers, attributing it to a lack of communication. Her company offers dried fruits, meant to be consumed as snacks or made into juice, which have a long shelf life. Abdoulhalim Mourchid, who makes traditional boubous by hand and machine, hopes that this event will attract more customers in the coming weeks.
