Partnerships in the tourism sector in Seychelles

Seychelles has recorded excellent tourism statistics this year. Estimated revenue is USD 303.11 million. Tourist arrivals reached 146,188 visitors until May 2023, along with a high satisfaction rate of 86.6%.

Tourism collaboration between Seychelles and Emirates Airlines.

Since 2005, Emirates Airlines has been a major contributor to tourism development in Seychelles with two daily flights. To strengthen this cooperation, Emirates Airlines and Tourism Seychelles signed a partnership in early May to increase the visibility and sales of the archipelago. Activities such as trade shows, familiarization trips, and exhibitions are planned.

Engagement with Qatar

Tourism Seychelles also successfully conducted trade visits to Qatar and Abu Dhabi on May 12, 2023. The aim is to strengthen ties with the travel industry in these countries and increase the destination’s visibility. Thus, promoting Seychelles as a leading tourist destination.

The actions were short in coming. Two weeks later, Air Seychelles signed a partnership with Qatar Airways. This agreement allowing the Qatari airline direct flights to Praslin, a popular destination in Seychelles. In exchange, Seychellois will have access to the entire catalog of their new airline partner.

Air Seychelles, which had reduced its activities due to the COVID-19 crisis, will now be able to offer its passengers hundreds of destinations thanks to Qatar Airways’ extensive catalog of 160 destinations in 2023.

Seychelles, the next South Korean destination

The outbound travel market from South Korea saw a strong rebound in 2022, and forecasts indicate that international travel will surpass pre-pandemic levels by 2024.

At the 38th Seoul International Tourism Fair (SITIF), Amia Jovanovic-Desir, head of the Southeast Asia and Australasia Department, said that this growing market would be a golden opportunity for Seychelles. She now plans to invite agents to experience the destination in order to increase awareness of this island destination. The results of all these actions to seek cooperation are more than expected to further stimulate the tourism industry of Seychelles.
