MIARY DIGITAL and AGRIBUSINESS : 15,000 USD to boost innovation in Madagascar

The MIARY DIGITAL and MIARY AGRIBUSINESS AND TOURISM programs were officially launched on January 20, 2024, in eight regions of southern and eastern Madagascar.

According to Ladislas Adrien Rakotondrazaka, National Coordinator of PIC 3, “This initiative aims to support local entrepreneurs, stimulate innovation, and enhance the competitiveness of Malagasy businesses in strategic sectors such as digital, agribusiness, and tourism.“

As part of the national economic transformation strategy, MIARY offers a 15,000 USD grant per selected project. However, the selection is based on rigorous criteria: the competence of the promoters, alignment with program objectives, market access, and synergy with other support mechanisms. The grant should not be the sole motivation for the candidates.

Project promoters will receive personalized support from renowned incubators such as Zafy Tody, NextA, and Orange Digital Center. The incubation, lasting nine to ten months, includes three phases: structuring the idea and developing the business plan, prototyping, testing, and launching to market (“Go to market”). This support includes technical training and mentoring sessions.

A technical and financial evaluation will be conducted by national and international experts. Only the most innovative and viable projects will receive the grant. Approximately 100 projects will be selected for MIARY AGRIBUSINESS AND TOURISM and 50 for MIARY DIGITAL.

“The goal is to promote job creation and income generation, thereby contributing to local economic development,” said Rindra Hasimbelo Rabarinirinarison, Madagascar’s Minister of Economy and Finance, during the launch ceremony in Toliara. This initiative provides Malagasy entrepreneurs with essential resources to bring their projects to life and ensure their market sustainability.
