Project with financial support from the French embassy

This distribution aims to improve the agricultural methods of local producers and strengthen food security in response to climate challenges.

A ceremony to distribute agricultural equipment to farmers who are members of the park was held at Karthala National Park. This initiative is part of an awareness and support project. The park farmers’ cooperative is restarting this project with financial support from the French Embassy. The program’s objective is to improve food security by using innovative agricultural methods that consider the environment and are adapted to the impacts of climate change.

Ali Ben Ali, the president of the cooperative, emphasized the importance of meticulous organization during seed distribution. « We will start with sweet potatoes and cassava. It is highly likely that potatoes, which are in high demand, will be available in March. However, we must first ensure the quality of the seeds; those who have already practiced cultivation will be able to obtain the available seeds », he stated.

On this day, 23 farmers received various equipment, including hoes, axes, gloves, irrigation devices, and pruning shears. The goal of these measures is to simplify their tasks and improve their productivity. « We thank God, and we do not forget the cooperative. Those who do not show gratitude for the efforts of others cannot thank God either. This equipment is essential for us to increase our production. We will also work with the operational seeds », said Mmadi Soilih, a farmer and village chief of Bahani.
