PTASO project : Developing agro-industry in Madagascar

Attracting investors to foster regional development

The Agro-Industrial Transformation Zone Project (PTASO) is gaining momentum, with efforts focused on attracting investors and boosting development in Madagascar.

According to the Ministry of Industrialization and Commerce (MIC), the project is currently being implemented to establish an agro-industrial park, along with the creation of a Single Agricultural Window in the Atsimo-Andrefana region. These initiatives aim to attract investors and promote the growth of the agro-industry in the area. On Tuesday, a partnership was formalized between representatives of the Ministry of Industrialization and Commerce and the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, highlighting the commitment of both parties to the project’s success.

The Secretary-General of the MIC emphasized that the Ministry of Industrialization will oversee the processing of local products, to drive economic development in the Atsimo-Andrefana region by enhancing the value chains of local goods. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture will provide technical support and ensure farmers have access to the necessary equipment.

In addition to infrastructure development, the project also aims to train farmers and producers to increase their output. According to the Secretary-General of the Department, this will help strengthen the availability of raw materials, crucial for the success of the agro-industrial initiative. The PTASO project is part of the broader agro-industrial framework under the Industrialization Pact and represents the first agropole to be developed by the Industrial Programming Act.
