Launch of the « Agricultural value chain » project

Project with 10 million USD in funding

This project will directly benefit over 108,000 people. Additionally, 7,254 hectares of landscapes will benefit from improved agricultural methods and more than 13,500 farmers with strategies for climate resilience.

The project « Strengthening the Resilience of Agricultural Systems and Climate-Smart Value Chains in the Union of the Comoros » was officially launched on Tuesday, December 31, in Idjinkudzi, in the Dimani region. The event was attended by the Minister of Gender Promotion, the President of the Chamber of Agriculture, the Resident Representative of the UNDP, the local MP and Prefect, as well as many local residents.

This project, funded with 10 million USD, aims to offer an ambitious and tailored solution to enhance the resilience of agricultural systems in the Comoros. It is based on a vision considered « clear and inclusive ». It aims to strengthen farmers’ ability to cope with climate disruptions through crop diversification, adopting smarter agricultural methods in response to climate conditions, and improving their access to resources, markets, and information.

This project will be deployed throughout the territory, with specific emphasis on the regions of the regional economic development centers (Crde) of Sidjuu, Cembenwa, and Dibwani in Ngazidja, Mimbani, and Mledjele in Mwali, as well as Mramani, Bambao Mtsanga, and Pomoni in Ndzuani.
