Encouraging local industry
The One District, One Factory unit in Ambanja has begun producing cocoa powder. On July 18th, a processing machine capable of handling one ton of cocoa per hour was inaugurated.
This initiative aims to bolster local industry. The establishment of the cocoa powder processing factory revitalizes agriculture and local production. The production line is strategically located in the Sambirano Valley, a region globally recognized for its high-quality cocoa beans. According to the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade, the factory can process up to one ton of cocoa per hour.
This development presents a significant opportunity for the region and its producers. The factory’s operations are expected to encourage the local population to increase their agricultural income, as local producers will supply the beans, thereby boosting the local economy.
S2A Ambanja has been selected to manage this unit and will collaborate with over 90 cocoa cooperatives in the village. The development of this new industry represents a major advantage for the district and its economy.
