UAE – Comoros: Strengthened commitment to the media sector

Equipment and training for a modern press

On April 17, 2025, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Union of the Comoros, Jumaa Rashid Al-Romaithi, met with the Minister of Information, Fatima Ahamada, and the heads of the country’s major media outlets.

During their meeting, the Ambassador emphasized that the main objective of this collaboration was to equip journalists and technicians with the skills needed to meet the current challenges of the media industry. Appropriate training thus helps align local media practices with international standards. The Diplomat expressed his hope that this initiative would lead to fruitful and lasting cooperation with professionals.

Minister Fatima Ahamada thanked the United Arab Emirates for its support. The official highlighted several major projects funded by the embassy, including the construction of a solar power plant in the Oichili region, which will be inaugurated on April 19. Fatima Ahamada also mentioned support for health and electrical infrastructure, such as improving the capacity of power plants and equipping El-Maarouf Hospital with an oxygen production unit, as well as the construction of a hospital dedicated to mothers and children in Mwali.

To mark this cooperation, the Ambassador symbolically presented computers to the media and organizations present. “This equipment will help journalists carry out their missions remotely and stay connected to technological developments,” he stated.
