Encouraging Investments in SMEs and Pharmaceuticals
On Thursday, April 17, 2025, the Mauritian Minister of Industry, SMEs and Cooperatives, Sayed Aadil Ameer Meea, received the Indian High Commissioner to Mauritius, Anurag Srivastava, in Port Louis.
This meeting provided an opportunity for officials to discuss economic relations between their countries, particularly in the small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives, and pharmaceutical sectors.
The Indian High Commissioner noted that the two countries recently renewed their cooperation agreement on SMEs, a sector he considers central to bilateral relations. India also shows strong interest in investments in key areas, particularly the pharmaceutical industry.
The discussion also focused on creating a joint ecosystem to encourage innovation and the development of startups. The objective is to strengthen exchanges between the Mauritian and Indian business communities, thus paving the way for new partnerships.
For Mauritius, this type of cooperation represents an opportunity to develop its economy, attract investment, and support the growth of SMEs. For India, it is a way to consolidate its presence in the Indian Ocean and forge closer ties with its regional partners.
