Côte d’Ivoire is launching FER FM, a radio station specializing in traffic information. This station officially opened on April 15, 2025, on the 101.3 FM frequency. Its program schedule focuses on traffic conditions, road safety, weather, and transportation news.
Context and objectives of FER FM Radio
Created by the Road Maintenance Fund (FER), this radio station aims to improve user safety and comfort by broadcasting real-time information on traffic conditions, road weather, accidents, and roadworks. It particularly targets carriers, truck drivers, and motorists.
The Ivorian Minister of Equipment and Road Maintenance, Dr. Amédé Koffi Kouakou, believes that “it’s always good to have road users informed in real time,” or even warned about the situation on the country’s main roads.
Programs and Operations
The program schedule includes safety alerts, prevention tips, and transportation-related news. Listeners can share alerts or report incidents via the radio, fostering collaboration between users and authorities.
Official Launch
The inauguration took place at the 4th bridge in Yopougon in the presence of several ministers, including Amédé Koffi Kouakou (Equipment), Vagondo Diomandé (Interior), and Françoise Remarck (Culture). The Minister of Culture welcomed the initiative, highlighting its potential to strengthen safety and disseminate cultural content.
Technical Scope
Installed in the administrative offices of the 4th bridge, the radio station covers the entire national road network. Its launch is part of the modernization of communications infrastructure dedicated to mobility.
FER FM’s Main Objectives
The main objectives of FER FM, a radio station specializing in traffic information in Côte d’Ivoire, revolve around safety, prevention, and the modernization of communications infrastructure:
- Improve road safety by broadcasting real-time alerts on accidents, roadworks, and traffic conditions to reduce the risk of accidents.
- Optimize mobility through road weather information and prevention tips, particularly targeting carriers and truckers.
- Promote collaboration between users and authorities by allowing listeners to report incidents directly to the radio.
- Modernize communications infrastructure dedicated to transportation, as part of FER’s mission to strengthen road governance and maintenance.
- To disseminate cultural and educational content in addition to technical information, as mentioned during the launch by the Minister of Culture.
These objectives are in line with the FER’s strategic vision, which aims to become a key player in the sustainable financing of road maintenance.
