Positive Assessment and Vigilance for the Future
The fourth review of Seychelles’ economic reform program by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was the focus of a meeting on April 10, 2025, between President Wavel Ramkalawan and Todd Schneider, IMF Mission Chief for Seychelles.
The meeting was held at State House as part of a courtesy visit by the IMF delegation. The Head of State took the opportunity to thank the IMF for its technical and financial support. President Ramkalawan affirmed that this partnership has played an important role in the country’s economic recovery and maintaining economic stability. He thus reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing its efforts to maintain fiscal discipline.
For his part, Todd Schneider welcomed the good results achieved by Seychelles. The Mission Chief emphasized that the country is seriously and effectively fulfilling its commitments. According to him, challenges remain, including global economic uncertainty, rising prices, and market volatility, which could affect the local economy.
