Saint-Pierre: Partially free school transportation for all primary school students
On March 11, 2025, the municipality of Saint-Pierre formalized a measure to ease family expenses. The school transportation pass will now be set at 1 EUR per month for all primary school students.
Currently, the price of « Marmaille » school passes varies according to the family quotient, ranging from 20 EUR for low-income households to 50 EUR for households paying full fare.
With this new measure, the municipality aims to simplify and reduce costs for all students, regardless of their income. However, families will need to provide proof of residence in Saint-Pierre in addition to the usual documents required at registration.
« In an economic context marked by increased constraints, the municipality of Saint-Pierre continues its efforts to support households », the city emphasized in a press release. The municipality will cover the differential cost of the subscription, ensuring this measure is available to all students.
In addition, families who have already paid higher amounts will receive a refund before the end of the school year, with the flat rate being retroactive to August 2024. In total, 4,000 children enrolled in the city’s 42 schools will be able to benefit from this new provision. This measure marks an important step towards accessibility and equality for students in Saint-Pierre.
