Comoros and International Partners Strengthen Cooperation
On Monday 24 February, the President of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, received the credentials of the new ambassadors of the United Kingdom, Italy and Mauritania during solemn ceremonies at the Beit-Salam Presidential Palace.
This event marks an important step towards deepening diplomatic relations between the Comoros and these three partner nations. Giuseppe Sean Coppola, Ambassador of Italy, highlighted the existing cooperation between his country and the Union of the Comoros in the sectors of energy, waste management and environmental protection. “I am at the beginning of my mandate and my hope is to strengthen collaboration on the basis of our long-standing friendly relations,” he said. The Ambassador also expressed Italy’s willingness to support Comorian SMEs, recalling Italy’s experience in this field.
For his part, Patrick Martin Lynch, British Ambassador residing in Antananarivo, is satisfied with his discussions with the Head of State. The diplomat underlines the importance of discussions focused on areas of common interest in order to strengthen bilateral relations. Al-Houssein Sadi Abdullah, representative of Mauritania, speaks of fruitful discussions and announces that specific agreements are being processed to formalize the partnership between the two countries. He insisted on the close relationship between the Comorian and Mauritanian Presidents as a major asset for the development of bilateral ties.
