Revision of the Local Urban Plan: Saint-André opens up to new economic prospects
This Friday, February 21, Joé Bédier, Mayor of the commune of Saint-André, welcomed Alain Di Crescenzo, President of the CCI France, to discuss structuring projects intended to boost trade and develop the local economy.
Among the initiatives presented, the revision of the Local Urban Plan was highlighted, aimed at freeing up more than 20 hectares of economic land. This will make it possible to welcome new businesses and create private jobs in the municipality.
Another emblematic project is the Ilot Grande Place, an initiative to develop the largest public square in Reunion Island. This project, supported by the ICADE group, the Banque des Territoires, SEMADER and Actisem, aims to be a dynamic living and commercial space, thus reinforcing the attractiveness of the city center.
« We want to make Saint-André a regional economic engine while preserving our city center », said Joé Bédier. The municipal official emphasizes the importance of combating the rise of shopping centers, often associated with mass consumption, to the detriment of local commerce.
Bédier also mentioned a strategic partnership with India and the countries of the Indian Ocean zone. The objective is to open up new economic prospects for the municipality. The president of the CCI praised the Mayor’s courage, describing the commercial strategy implemented as adapted to current economic challenges.
