President of Seychelles engages global community for a sustainable future
At the SDGs in Action Forum in Dubai, Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan reiterates his country’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Head of State spoke of the importance of preparing a bold global agenda for after 2030. In his speech, Ramkalawan stressed the urgency of action to achieve the SDGs by 2030, while starting to think about a plan for 2045. The President stressed that countries must be ambitious, but also realistic in their actions.
President Wavel Ramkalawan highlighted five key areas for success: combating climate change, sustainable financing, leveraging new technologies such as AI and blockchain, equality for all, and a more inclusive model of global governance. In addition, he called for the use of innovative financial tools, such as climate bonds, to support these goals.
The Head of State concluded his speech by calling on all global actors to work together for a better future. « We have the power to build the world we want, but we must act jointly and with determination », he added.
