Mayotte : Immediate Aid for Cyclone Victims

Emergency plan for cyclone victims

On Tuesday, February 4, the « Caisse de Sécurité Sociale de Mayotte (CSSM) » announced an emergency aid program for families affected by the cyclone.

A total budget of 2.1 million EUR, equivalent to 2.18 million USD, is planned. This amount includes 1.8 million EUR from the Caisse des Allocations Familiales (CAF) and 300,000 EUR from the Caisse Nationale des Allocations Familiales (CNAF).

Eligible families can receive up to 2,000 EUR in support. Beneficiaries must have at least one child under 20 years old and a family quotient of 960 EUR or less. This aid will be used to replace household and furniture items damaged by the cyclone. A form is available on the CSSM website to facilitate applications.

In parallel, an exceptional aid of 2 million EUR is being considered to support the 5,447 retirees and beneficiaries of the Allocation de Solidarité aux Personnes Âgées (ASPA) affected by the disaster. Precise modalities will be communicated later. However, CSSM ensures an automatic payment.

Moreover, 100,000 EUR is mobilized for the rehabilitation or reconstruction of damaged nurseries. Additionally, the 11 social centers and the 5 social animation structures under CNAF will each receive 100,000 EUR. These funds will help restore services and restart activities. This aspect represents an additional budget of 1.6 million EUR.
