Ghana Cocoa Board: Ransford Abbey Appointed New CEO

The Ghana Cocoa Board is undergoing a leadership change. Ransford Abbey has been appointed as the new CEO of the regulatory authority for the cocoa industry in Ghana. He was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama.

Ransford Abbey holds a PhD and an MBA. He graduated from the SBS Swiss Business School a few years after obtaining his Master’s degree at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). In this context, the new CEO of the Ghana Cocoa Board received training in General Management. These qualifications have enabled him to develop strong skills in public administration, strategic marketing, and human resource management.

Ransford Abbey’s appointment comes at a challenging time for the Ghana Cocoa Board. The institution is facing a decline in cocoa bean production due to an increasing number of farmers choosing to lease their land to illegal miners rather than cultivating cocoa.

Faced with these challenges, Ransford Abbey will be tasked with leading essential reforms within the Ghana Cocoa Board. His role is to strengthen Ghana’s status as a global leader in cocoa production. This is an ambitious task, but Ransford Abbey has the skills and experience required to succeed.
