Public Sector Reform: Partnership with China

Implementation of Innovative Solutions

Mauritius could leverage Chinese expertise in administrative reforms to improve the efficiency and speed of its public administration. This opportunity was discussed during a visit by Ding Peiyi, representative of the Chinese Embassy, to the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Lutchmanah Pentiah.

Following this meeting, the minister emphasized the importance of adopting solutions inspired by Chinese advancements, particularly in the modernization of public services. China, which has undertaken significant administrative reforms over the past thirty years, relies on new technologies to optimize its public services.

In this regard, Mauritius plans to integrate digital tools to improve the quality of administrative services. The minister highlighted the electronic health record project, an initiative aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the public health system. Digitalization would speed up procedures and offer smoother services to citizens.

The minister also stressed the need to anticipate and respond to the needs of both civil servants and users to build a modern and flexible administration. Administrative reforms are central to the government’s efforts to modernize its operations. The partnership with China paves the way for innovative solutions tailored to the island’s specific needs. This cooperation aims to build a more efficient, effective, and user-centered administration.
