Mauritius – France : Collaboration in Higher Education

Offering opportunities to advanced-level students

During a meeting in Réduit, the focus was on enhancing bilateral collaboration in the higher education sector between the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Research, Kaviraj Sukon, and the French diplomatic representative in Mauritius, Frédéric Bontems.

The discussions mainly revolved around proposing more opportunities for advanced-level students and strengthening cooperation in the fields of research and sciences. Kaviraj Sukon, through a statement, mentioned having a cordial meeting with Frédéric Bontems while emphasizing that universities in Mauritius and France can benefit from existing agreements as well as new agreements between the two countries.

Participants also discussed exchange programs and scholarships to be offered to students. The French diplomatic representative mentioned the possibility of offering Mauritian students the opportunity to complete either a semester or a year in France as part of their educational journey.

The meeting also addressed existing partnerships that offer Mauritian students enrolled at the University of Mascareignes and simultaneously at a French university the possibility of obtaining dual degrees.
