Developing road networks to promote trade and tourism
According to the latest report from the Ministry of Public Works (MTP), the earthworks for a 40 km section of the 80 km corresponding to the first phase of the works are fully completed.
Currently, the country is seeking partners to implement the second phase.
“The state initiated the first phase of the highway construction because development work cannot wait,” declared the President of the Republic during a Council of Ministers meeting. This statement delighted Richard Rafidison, the Minister of Public Works, who did not hesitate to praise the occupant of Iavoloha, asserting that he is the only head of state with this vision. It is thanks to him that the realization was possible despite numerous obstacles.
For the record, the first 80 km segment should be completed by the end of this year. The company Samcrete, responsible for executing the works, has received strict directives to increase the pace to meet established deadlines. Discussions have already begun for the execution of the second part, which covers a distance of 180 km.
Furthermore, President Andry Rajoelina emphasizes that the realization of this large-scale project constitutes a legacy to be passed on to future generations. He stressed the need to develop road networks to promote trade and tourism. According to Minister Richard Rafidison, the directive is to transform Madagascar into a vast road project.
