Strengthening cooperation between the two nations
Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan and the First Lady visited Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at Jubilee House in Accra.
The official visit commenced with a military honor guard ceremony, followed by a private meeting between the two leaders. President Ramkalawan conveyed warm greetings from the Seychellois people and expressed heartfelt gratitude for Ghana’s warm reception.
Discussions highlighted the historical ties between Seychelles and Ghana. The leaders explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in key areas such as the blue economy, youth development, and cultural exchange.
Two memoranda of understanding were signed during the visit, focusing on tourism and culture. Seychelles Ambassador Conrad Mederic and Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, formalized the agreements. In a joint press conference, the leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening collaborations and exploring mutual opportunities.
As part of the visit, the Seychellois delegation paid tribute to Ghana’s rich history by laying wreaths at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and the WEB Du Bois Memorial Center for Pan-African Culture. Speaking on behalf of the Seychellois community in Ghana, John Micock expressed pride and honor at meeting the President and collaborating directly with the Head of State.
