Developing a Sustainable Cattle Industry Between Madagascar and Mayotte

Showcasing Madagascar’s cattle production

BOVIMA (Bonne Viande de Madagascar) plays a pivotal role in Madagascar’s cattle sector. This Malagasy company, deeply involved in livestock farming, is a key partner in an agri-food initiative to establish a sustainable cattle industry between Madagascar and Mayotte.

On November 16, Inviso Group, BOVIMA’s parent company, signed a partnership agreement funded by the INTERREG VI program. The project aims to supply Mayotte with high-quality beef from Madagascar that meets European standards. Although Madagascar has significant potential to produce premium beef, Mayotte currently sources most of its imports from Brazil or Poland.

BOVIMA, certified ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HALAL, and HACCP, adheres to global standards. This partnership aims to reduce the economic and environmental impacts of imports while promoting Madagascar’s beef production in the Mahoran market. It also allows BOVIMA to enhance its position as a leading supplier of premium meat in Madagascar. The company is modernizing cattle farming in the Anôsy and Androy regions, maintaining strict compliance with international standards, and aiming to position Mayotte as a new competitive market.

By strengthening health competencies and adhering to global norms, this project seeks to improve product quality and establish a sustainable structure for the cattle industry.
