Lions International to Build an Ophthalmology Hospital in Seychelles

Close cooperation with the government in other sectors

District Governor Dr. Moez Manji announced on Monday that Lions International will collaborate with Seychelles to build an ophthalmology hospital and expand partnerships in other areas of cooperation.

The announcement came following a courtesy visit to Vice President Ahmed Afif at the State House. « With our expertise, we will be able to secure grants to fund this hospital », said Manji. He noted that the project might take one or two years to materialize, depending on how quickly the necessary protocols are established. Lions International also plans to work closely with the government in another critical area: childhood cancer. Manji highlighted that the hospital’s support would enable early detection of cancer in children.

Lions Clubs International is a global charitable organization dedicated to promoting health and well-being. Seychelles, along with Kenya and Ethiopia, falls under District 411, which focuses primarily on vision, hunger, and environmental initiatives for the community. The organization is also committed to youth development and empowerment.

During their first visit to Seychelles, Manji and his delegation participated in the Global Diabetes Walk, which the Lions Clubs recently organized.
