Promoting Agriculture : Donation of Fertilizers and Motorized Cultivators

Supporting 14,000 households

This third batch of agricultural equipment includes 16 motorized cultivators and the first installment of 165 tons of fertilizer out of a total planned 225 tons. The Aefpf-Comores Project is supporting farmers across 11 Economic Development Centers (Crde) benefiting from these resources.

On Wednesday, November 13, the National Fisheries Resources Directorate organized a distribution ceremony for motorized cultivators and fertilizers to farmers. This event represents the ongoing commitment of the Emergency Agricultural Production Support Project (Aefpf), funded by the African Development Bank in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture. Minister Daniel Ali Bandar expressed gratitude to the African Development Bank for its diverse support in advancing the Union of the Comoros.

The project aims to assist professional agricultural organizations and primarily female producers to support 14,000 households. This assistance is essential for increasing yields and optimizing agricultural production, bolstering food security to alleviate shortages, and enhancing living conditions, especially in rural areas of the Comoros.

On October 10, 2022, Comorian authorities requested a grant from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to fund the 24-month Emergency Agricultural Production Support Project (Aefpf).
