Over 100 companies granted export rights
For the 2024-2025 campaign, 108 entities 38 in the « Industrial » sector and 70 in the « Artisan » sector have been granted the right to export cloves.
This announcement follows the publication of an official authorization list released on October 31 by Madagascar’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The accreditation for the « Industrial » sector covers the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 campaigns, while the « Artisan » sector’s accreditation is limited to the 2024-2025 campaign. Companies now have 15 days to obtain their certificates from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) located in Ambohidahy.
The ministry stated its intent to enforce ongoing monitoring to ensure compliance with export standards and regulations for cloves. It has also issued a notice indicating that appropriate actions will be taken if any irregularities are detected.
It is worth noting that cloves are Madagascar’s second-highest revenue-generating export after vanilla. Over 18,000 producers cultivate cloves on approximately 70,000 hectares spanning the north to the south of the country. The Analanjirofo region alone contributes to 90 % of the nation’s production. Malagasy cloves are primarily exported to India, Indonesia, Singapore, and Europe.
