Defining effective strategies
As part of a UNESCO and AFD-funded project, a workshop gathered education stakeholders to review and improve the development and distribution of educational resources in the Comoros.
The workshop, led by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, presented a diagnostic analysis of strategies for creating and distributing teaching materials in the Comoros. UNESCO spearheads the « Educational Resources » project, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), which aims to address challenges related to providing high-quality and varied educational materials to students and schools across 13 Francophone countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including the Comoros.
The project primarily seeks to enhance educational outcomes for students in these countries through a range of learning resources, both physical and digital. During the workshop, participants focused on ensuring textbook availability for every student and assessing content quality. As technical partners of the ministry, they also examined resource development methods and the correlation between production and student numbers.
UNESCO representative Mariama Sagna shared the diagnostic analysis results, offering insights and recommendations for effective resource production and distribution strategies. The Secretary-General highlighted the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and Cyclone Kenneth on the education system, which notably disrupted learning for the most disadvantaged groups.
