AFD Donation to the University of Comoros

110,000 USD in educational equipment

The French Development Agency (AFD) will provide the University of Comoros with educational and teaching equipment worth 110,000 USD. The package includes computers, projectors, UPS devices, and printers, all of which were lacking for teachers and students.

It may seem ordinary that the University of Comoros is receiving computer equipment funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), but these are valuable educational tools for the students.

The university’s ambition is to train future doctors, researchers, and engineers in Moroni. As such, having basic equipment to pass on knowledge is essential, as highlighted by Ibouri Ali Tabibou, the university’s administrator. It is crucial to have these tools to ensure education that aligns with the current and future realities of the country.

The University of Comoros aims to improve the quality of its medical school. In the Comoros, education is often limited by a lack of resources rather than the dedication of students or teachers. Dozens of healthcare professionals have been trained at the School of Medicine and Public Health in Moroni, but today, the structure (both the building and the teaching materials) is outdated.

The university administrator mentioned his project during his thank-you speech to the AFD representatives. Modernizing the facilities is necessary to guarantee decent study and working conditions.
