Modernizing public service
The Seychelles has launched its second executive leadership program for 29 top government officials. The goal of this initiative is to modernize the public service.
President Wavel Ramkalawan expressed his hope for this new group, just as he did for the previous cohort. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the country has leaders in all key positions—not only to guide their respective areas but also to serve the people. This program stems from a memorandum of understanding signed between Seychelles and the United Arab Emirates. Since then, the program has enabled 27 business leaders and senior government officials from Seychelles to graduate.
The program lasts five months and consists of six modules, with larger programs planned for the future. Some will be general, while others will focus on specific sectors, including finance, healthcare, education, logistics, and urban planning. The government intends to develop world-renowned centers to strengthen its capabilities further.
Participants have already completed two modules of their executive leadership training. They will also collaborate on more in-depth modernization projects for their respective organizations and spend five weeks in the United Arab Emirates.
