Solutions for access to sustainable energy

Startups lead the charge toward clean energy

Startups involved in the Sustainable Energy Incubator (IED) are working on innovative, lasting solutions to meet growing energy needs.

More and more startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are stepping into energy entrepreneurship. Recently, fifteen young companies presented their projects focused on renewable and clean energy, ranging from eco-friendly charcoal and recycling innovations to generators designed to combat power outages. Of these projects, about half concentrated on sustainable cooking solutions. The creativity and innovation on display were impressive, reflecting a strong commitment to tackling energy challenges.

Adopting these solutions is critical as traditional energy resources become scarcer and outdated methods become bothfinancially and environmentally unsustainable. This is where organizations like the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) come in, supporting these young enterprises through the Sustainable Energy Incubator, helping them turn their ideas into impactful businesses.

The public and taxpayers alike are eager for these projects to make a real difference in everyday life. Fortunately, the startups selected for the next phase of the incubator will not be left behind when it comes to financial support. Through the Sustainable Energy Integrated Financing (FIER) initiative, companies can access a range of funding mechanisms. This program is backed by the United Nations Joint Fund for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), providing crucial financial resources to bring these sustainable energy projects to life.
