Investing in business tourism

Promoting the development of the tourism sector

Madagascar is experiencing growth in business tourism, particularly with various high-level meetings that have taken place and are scheduled to occur soon in the country.

The establishment of new air routes is also attracting a diverse clientele, including businesspeople and potential investors. However, it is crucial to promote the development of the tourism sector, particularly in luxury hospitality, to fully harness this promising industry. During her visit to Nosy Be, the Minister of Tourism stated that « Madagascar is positioning itself as a promising destination for business tourism », particularly in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.

Since the post-COVID recovery, this segment of the tourism industry has continued to grow. Despite the interest from potential investors, there is still work to be done to optimize business tourism. The Minister of Tourism, therefore, encouraged investors and high-end companies to invest in the country. Professional tourism is seen as a crucial means of boosting the local economy and attracting an international luxury clientele. This, in turn, enhances Madagascar’s appeal on the global stage.

According to industry experts, Madagascar has significant potential to host business events, thanks to its luxury hotel establishments that are well-suited for such purposes. Many renowned hotels are already established, with branches across the country. However, considerable efforts are still needed in terms of equipment and infrastructure.
