Robotics : Malagasy team shines internationally

Showcasing the technological expertise of Madagascar’s youth

The Malagasy team continues to build a stellar reputation on the global robotics stage. Recently in Senegal, the young talents of Madagascar showcased their skills and ingenuity against formidable opponents like the Democratic Republic of Congo, the reigning champions.

Despite limited resources, the students have shown dedication since April to improve their programming skills. As the runner-up in the Pan-African Robotics Competition, the « Robotiako » team has proven that Malagasy talent is ready to take on the most challenging tasks.

Following this success, a new Malagasy team, « First Global Madagascar », is gearing up to participate in the Robotics Olympics in Athens, Greece, from September 26th to 29th. The team, consisting of five high school students, including four girls aged 15 to 18, is designing and programming a robot focused on sustainable food production, which is the main theme of this 8th edition. The team mentor emphasized the excellence of these young people, who were selected in March for their technological proficiency, teamwork skills, and command of English. Madagascar aims to shine on the global stage with this team.

Stem For Good has announced the recruitment of members for the new national robotics team, « Robotikoo Girls », which will represent Madagascar at the prestigious « Starship Girls’ Firefighting » competition during the Robotex International festival in Tallinn, Estonia, on December 6th and 7th. The recruitment of women, often underrepresented in engineering and technology, is strongly encouraged.
