National Model United Nations Conference 2024

Reflecting on sustainable solutions

The National Model United Nations Conference 2024 began on Monday, August 5, at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Moka. Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, Minister of Education, attended the event.

This two-day meeting brings together 76 delegations from 43 schools, representing approximately 425 students. This year’s theme, titled « One Earth. One Opportunity. Our Responsibility », addresses urgent global challenges. The initiative encourages young people to reflect on sustainable solutions. The opening was marked by the reading of statements from delegations of several countries, including Switzerland, the Syrian Arab Republic, Thailand, Uganda, and Ukraine. A conference commitment was also signed.

This conference provides an opportunity for young leaders, encouraging the emergence of ideas for a healthy and sustainable future. The Minister emphasized the importance of aligning the conference outcomes with the commitments made. She particularly urged young people to adopt diverse perspectives and actively engage in extracurricular activities and community services.

This event offers students a valuable opportunity to enhance their skills and participate in important debates on global issues.
