Encouraging research and innovation
Last Friday, a workshop was held at the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC) in Ebène. The objective was to present the findings of a project titled « Improving Access to Financial Products through a Multilingual Virtual Assistant Powered by Artificial Intelligence ».
A multilingual « chatbot » powered by artificial intelligence (AI) will be the outcome of this project and will play a crucial role in modernizing financial products and services. Dr. Kaviraj Sharma Sukon, President of the MRIC, expressed his commitment to encouraging research and innovation at all levels. To achieve this goal, he has established various programs aimed at promoting the development and use of advanced and innovative technologies.
Furthermore, he assured that similar projects would continue to receive funding from the MRIC, especially those that encourage institutions to conduct innovative and high-quality research. The goal is to meet the demands of both industry and the country in general.
Regarding artificial intelligence, the President of the MRIC highlighted that it is a powerful tool that should be fully utilized to improve financial services. According to him, the chatbot will facilitate access to financing for clients through a service available 24/7.
