Improving Living Conditions in Southern Madagascar
The Mionjo project is launched by the Malagasy government, with funding of 188 million USD from the World Bank.
The goal is to improve living conditions in Southern Madagascar, particularly in the Androy, Anôsy, and Atsimo-Andrefana regions, which face various environmental, social, and security challenges. To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Minae), a project partner, has been equipped with all-terrain vehicles. These vehicles are expected to facilitate the movement of teams in the field, even in the most remote areas.
Other equipment is also planned : 26 laptops, 6 desktop computers, and 17 multifunction printers. Additionally, specialized devices such as complete topographic stations and global positioning systems (GPS) are available. In an environment where agriculture can ensure food security and reduce poverty, Mionjo plays a crucial role in the socio-economic transition of Southern Madagascar. This project contributes to building a more prosperous and resilient future for generations to come.
Moreover, the Mionjo project relies on partnerships with the FAO to enhance agricultural skills. Equipment donations have already been made to Minae to enable monitoring and evaluation.
