MECC 2024 : Agribusiness at the heart of the 5th economic mission to Canada

Facilitating trade between Madagascar and Canada

In order to increase collaboration and exports to Canada, as well as investment in Madagascar, the Economic Transformation Project for Inclusive Growth is supporting the 5th edition of the Economic and Trade Mission to Canada, also known as MECC 2024.

Agribusiness is one of the key sectors featured at this year’s MECC, which runs until May 20, 2024, organized by the Canada-Madagascar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CanCham). Sixteen companies are participating in this valuable B2B and B2C mission. As part of this major event, Madagascar is participating in the Salon International de l’Agroalimentaire in Canada from May 15 to 17, 2024. Supported by the ICP Project, exports of cash crops to Canada have significantly increased, resulting in new investments, job creation, and higher incomes for producers in Madagascar.

The economic mission, organized by CanCham, aims to facilitate access to crucial contacts for investment, trade, and cooperation. CanCham plays an essential role in organizing Malagasy trade missions to Canada and vice versa, promoting the establishment of similar organizations in both countries. Additionally, CanCham is committed to encouraging female entrepreneurship.
