Boosting employment opportunities locally
As part of the One District, One Factory (ODOF) initiative, the Arivonimamo district celebrates the inauguration of its second industrial unit, dedicated to producing rice-based pasta.
The newly inaugurated pasta production unit in Arivonimamo boasts a daily production capacity of 4 tons, equivalent to eighty sacks. On May 3rd, 2024, Edgar Razafindravahy, Minister of Industrialization and Commerce, officiated the opening ceremony, marking a significant milestone for the ODOF program.
Managed by NETA (Our Food Processing Company) Madagascar, the second industrial hub in the Arivonimamo district brings hope and opportunity to the local community. With ten direct job openings for young residents, this initiative is eagerly welcomed by both the municipality and the district. According to Miarantsoa Anjaramalala Roland Fidèle, the factory manager, « Establishing such a unit in our region contributes significantly to job creation. »
The locally produced pasta, crafted and packaged to meet international standards, offers consumers competitive quality at an affordable price. Priced between 800 and 900 Ariary for an 85g portion, it presents a cost-effective alternative to imported pasta, which typically retails for over 1000 Ariary for the same quantity. In his inaugural address at the factory, the Minister of Industrialization highlighted the primary objective of the ODOF program: « This project is geared towards safeguarding our local producers, as the challenges faced by farmers directly impact our nation’s prosperity ».
