Opening of Waldorf Astoria

Fifth tourist establishment of the Hilton Group

The official inauguration of Waldorf Astoria on Platte Island occurred on January 30, 2024, marking the Hilton Group’s fifth tourist infrastructure in the Seychelles archipelago.

Prominent dignitaries, including the Seychelles presidential couple, graced this significant event alongside representatives from the Hilton Group and local authorities. Present at the ceremony on Platte Island was the principal secretary for tourism, the Seychelles destination marketing director, and other distinguished guests.

The occasion underscored the sustainable partnership between the country and Hilton. A notable moment during the inauguration was the symbolic planting of a coconut tree by the Seychellois president himself. This gesture, laden with symbolism, signifies this renowned establishment’s anticipated growth and prosperity. In his speech, President Ramkalawan expressed his admiration for the quality and beauty of the Seychelles Waldorf Astoria on Platte Island. The head of state extended gratitude to all involved in this ambitious project, including the Islands Development Company, the Hilton Group, and the management and staff of the complex for their contribution to the evolution of Platte Island.

Situated 130 km south of Mahé, Platte Island boasts an idyllic setting with lush vegetation, coral reefs, and a crystalline lagoon. The island is easily accessible through its small airstrip connecting to Pointe Larue Airport. Adding Waldorf Astoria Seychelles further solidifies the Hilton Group’s presence in this sought-after destination, complementing its other luxury establishments in the archipelago. As a reminder, with a revenue of 10 billion USD, the Hilton Group already operates four other luxury tourist complexes in the country: Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa, DoubleTree by Hilton Seychelles, Allamanda Resort and Spa, and Mango House Seychelles.
