French Teacher Mobility Project Launched

On February 5, 2024, at the National Theatre in Mont Fleuri, the Government of Seychelles, in partnership with the Francophone International Organization (OIF), launched the « French Teacher Mobility Project ».

The « French Teacher Mobility Project » seeks to elevate the quality of French language instruction in the country while fostering a vibrant Francophone atmosphere. By enlisting educators from Belgium, Burkina Faso, France, Madagascar, Mali, Romania, and Serbia, the initiative aims to enrich the cultural and educational landscape, sparking young people’s curiosity in literature, culture, and sports.

Out of 700 applicants, 25 volunteer teachers have been meticulously chosen by the OIF to participate in the inaugural training program. Initially slated for a one-year duration, the program holds the potential for extension based on its impact and necessity. These selected instructors are set to commence their assignments promptly, serving in key educational institutions such as the Seychelles Institute of Teacher Education (SITE) and primary schools across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue islands.

Faouzia Abdoulhalik, Program Specialist at OIF, delineates the mission ahead, emphasizing the teachers’ role in fortifying the French language curriculum and cultivating a dynamic Francophone environment through a diverse array of extracurricular activities.
